Tech Survey For Techmedia Fusion
Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:47PM
When I started Techmedia Fusion I wanted to add something on the site that was going to be both fun and help me get a better sense of who is visiting my site. The reason for me wanting to know what type of people are visiting my site is quite simple, I want to deliver a service that makes viewers of Techmedia Fusion feel like I am trying to please them, because that is exactly what I am trying to do. With Techmedia Fusion being a tech site, the most important question was, what camp people belonged to i.e. Windows, Linux, Mac etc. For me personally, the most important thing is community and developing a community where tech enthusiasts of all ages feel welcome when they visit the site. I don’t want people to feel that if they are Windowsusers, they are going to be rebuked on the site, likewise I don’t want people to feel left out because I don’t covertutorials or news on their preferred operating system or tech
Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 Graphics Card
Monday, April 30, 2012 at 6:00PM
On the 3rd of May this year (2012), Nvidia release fastest graphics card in the world to the general public, the GeForce GTX 690. The card is sure to set you screen on fire, metaphorically speaking of course. However there is one slight downside to this power beast and that is the price. The GeForce GTX 690 will set you back $999 (£615), however it is worth reminding yourself of the old saying, "you get what you pay for."
The Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 consists of two Kepler GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) chips, this is obviously a card that in producing so much power will inevitably produce quite a bit of heat, this is controlled by a vapour chamber heat sinks and a central fan. In essence the GeForce GTX 690 has it's own mini water cooling system. All of this is encased in an eye candy appealing black and silver enclosure, with chrome plating and injection moulded magnesium alloy.
Nvidia are proudly boasting the cards performance as the worlds fastest graphics card and as such gamers can obviously expect the most spectacular visuals from their game play. Hopefully we are not waiting much longer until we see powerful GPU's in our notebooks and laptops.
Android Malware
Monday, April 23, 2012 at 2:36PM
Recently, the Android market has been plagued with malicious Android Malware and mainly from an uprising of Russian based fake hosting domains. It has been noted by one of the worlds leading experts on virus and malware, Graham Cluley, Senior Technology Consultant for Sophos, that,
"Android Malware is becoming a bigger and bigger problem."
I know many developers have been hindered by the process of application in place, for adding iOS Apps to Apples App Store, however judging on the information being released with regards to Android Apps, it could be a blessing in disguise. The process of selling Apps in the Apple App Store has been the topic of much debate over the past few years, but it is looking more and more likely that Google should be looking toward a similar process.
The latest Malware infected App to hit the Android market was the Instragram photo sharing App. A Trojan placed into the App infects your mobile phone, once infected, the malware, without your knowledge or consent, sends SMS messages to premium rate services. This is obviously very bad news for individuals infected with such a program, it could be a month before you discover what has been going on in your phone, and even that all depends on how closely you pay attention to your monthly mobile phone statements. In that period of time
many SMS messages could have been sent, running your phone bill to astronomical heights.
This came on the back of an investigation headed by Trend Micro and Sophos, their findings shed light on the infestation of Russian based sites posing as download pages, that appears to be causing this mayhem on the unsuspecting Android market. One thing to mention is that the Instagram App in question was not seen in the official Google Play Android Market. So for all Android users be sure to keep vigilant, particularly if buying Apps from outside the Google Play Marketplace, at least if something goes wrong in that respect, you stand more chance of legitimate support to resolve the problem.
